About Check A Car
Check A Car helps UK drivers and automotive businesses make safer decisions with instant vehicle history reports and AI buyer insights. We turn a UK registration (VRM) into a report covering tax status, MOT status/history, stolen and write‑off markers, outstanding finance, and mileage consistency (availability varies by vehicle/source), then present plain‑English guidance on what matters and what to do next.
About the Role
We’re seeking a UX/UI Designer to shape the end‑to‑end experience of our product, especially the report view where users make high‑stakes decisions. You’ll turn complex signals into interfaces that are clear, trustworthy, and accessible—without hiding nuance.
You'll work closely with product managers and engineers to solve complex design challenges. Your designs will directly impact how users interact with vehicle data and make important purchasing decisions.
We're looking for someone who combines strong visual design skills with a deep understanding of user psychology and interaction design principles.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of UX/UI design experience
- Expert knowledge of Figma and design systems
- Portfolio demonstrating strong visual and interaction design
- Experience with user research and usability testing
- Understanding of responsive design and accessibility
- Knowledge of design thinking and human-centered design
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
What You'll Do
- Design user flows, wireframes, and high‑fidelity UI for checkout and report experiences
- Create and maintain design system components and patterns for data‑heavy layouts (tables, timelines, flags)
- Establish “trust patterns”: uncertainty, caveats, evidence links, and clear next‑step guidance
- Conduct user research and usability testing with UK buyers (and enterprise users where relevant)
- Collaborate with engineers on implementation details and QA to maintain quality
- Iterate based on user feedback and product metrics (comprehension, conversion, support contacts)
What We Offer
- Fully remote position
- Flexible working hours
- 25 days holiday
- Design conference budget
- Latest design tools and software
- Home office setup allowance
- Mental health support
- Bi-annual team retreats
Compensation
£50,000 - £70,000
